The P.S.
It’s My Body curriculum is a graduated personal safety program for
children Pre-K through Middle School as well as their parents, caregivers
and school personnel. Through
P.S. It’s My Body, children receive training on recognizing unsafe
behavior on the part of adults or other children, and adults are trained on
appropriate responses to a child’s outcry.
The Children’s Advocacy Center of Smith County offers this program at
no cost to public and private schools and other youth serving organizations.
§
The program’s goal is to teach children strategies to lessen their
susceptibility to abuse. All activities are designed to reinforce the three
R’s (Recognize, Resist, Report) by integrating a variety of
experiences to increase children’s knowledge and skill retention.
§
Children learn about welcome and unwelcome touches, identifying trusted
adults, personal safety boundaries, the importance of helping others,
resistance skills to deal will bullies and other important issues children
face every day.
P.S.
It’s My Body utilizes visual aids such as a play, safety scenarios,
games and crafts all of which are focused around personal safety and
empowerment.
