| Where agencies and the community
work together for the smallest victims to be heard, helped and healed…
The
Children’s Advocacy Center serves Smith County children who have
been physically or sexually abused or who have witnessed a violent crime.
Each case is referred to the center by a law enforcement or Child Protective
Services investigator.
The Children’s Advocacy Center of Smith County coordinates the efforts
of law enforcement, Child Protective Services, criminal prosecutors, therapists,
victim advocates, and community volunteers in a child-friendly environment
in order to bring healing and recovery to child victims of abuse and their
families.
Since 1995, the Children’s Advocacy Center has coordinated nearly
4000 cases of alleged child abuse. In that time the center has provided
interviews, advocacy, and therapy services for over 5,500 children.
