Children’s
Advocacy Center of Smith County serves children who have been physically or
sexually abused or who have witnessed a violent crime. Each case is referred
to the center by a law enforcement agency or Department of Family &
Protective Services Child Protective Services investigator.
Children’s Advocacy Center of Smith County coordinates the efforts of law
enforcement agencies, Department of Family & Protective Services Child
Protective Services, criminal prosecutors, therapists, victim advocates, and
community volunteers in a child-friendly environment in order to bring
healing and recovery to child victims of abuse and their families.
From 1996 through 2012, Children's Advocacy Center of Smith County has
facilitated investigation of 6,087 cases of alleged child
abuse, provided services for 8,533 children and counseling for 1,256
children.
